Words from the Chief

Our Chief...

Hello my fellow Arrowmen,

Hi everyone,

Summer is coming up soon and we have are annual BBQ on June 14th. On another note, we have a great crew going over to NOAC or the National Order of the Arrow Conference in Indiana University; it is suppose to be a lot of fun for everyone. Now, usually this May we were supposed to have our yearly Section Conclave, but since we have a brand new section, we will be having our Conclave in September 23-25. I would really like to see everyone come out and support your favorite lodge, and make this one of the best Conclaves Hungteetsepoppi has ever seen. I also would like to let everyone know that during our Camporee last weekend, we called out almost 30 potential Arrowmen, so tell the call out members in your troop to join the Lodge. I hope everyone has a great summer, and I hope to see you all at the BBQ on the 14th.

Yours in Brotherhood
Will C.

Joaquin Miller Park Picnic Area, Oakland

Next Sunday, June 14th, Hungteetsepoppi will hold it's annual Spring BBQ and Officer Elections at Joaquin Miller Park in the Oakland Hills. Did I mention that the BBQ is FREE? If you don't know where the park is, scroll down and take a look at the map. It's only 5 minutes from anywhere in Piedmont.

This is a fun event to celebrate the end of the school year with some BBQ and fellowship. We will elect new lodge officers for the 2009-2010 year at this event, so please be prepared to make your voice heard.

The BBQ will start at 6:00pm in the Picnic Area, right off Joaquin Miller Rd. by Sanborn Dr., and should be over by 8pm.
There will be plenty of food, but you need to tell us you are coming so we can make sure. Please RSVP to the appropriate person below no later that Thursday night, June 11th. Thanks.

RSVP:
Youth members should RSVP to Chief Will, <Chief@OA466.org>.
Adults should RSVP to Kevin Fischer, <Adviser@oa466.org>.
Please RSVP no later than Thursday night, June 11th. Thanks!

See you next Sunday evening!

PoppiFest 2009

February 27 - March 1st, 2009, at Camp Augusta

On the weekend of March 1st, Arrowmen traveled from the Bay Area to Camp Augusta to participate in this years PoppiFest. We arrived on a Friday night and stayed up late. Saturdays service project for Camp Augusta was a great addition to the numerous cheerful service projects Hungteetsepoppi have helped for the camp.

Through intense effort and strenuous labor the Arrowmen worked on building shelves for the brand new storage barn, installing the shelves until late afternoon.
Next, the youth members got ready for the Brotherhood ceremony. Two of our members were inducted into the Brotherhood. Congratulations James and Dick!

After a delicious dinner and a superb Brotherhood Ceremonies completed, the PoppiFest festivities began. After a rigid and strenuous day, Arrowmen sat back, enjoy the company of their fellow Arrowmen by chatting among one another, and watched the movie, Tropic Thunder.

On a snowy Sunday morning, the Lodge gathered for a short picture, packed up their gear and then took the trek back to the Bay Area.
Thank you to all the Arrowmen who came out to support the Lodge.

Chief Will

Section W3S? What the heck is that?

Last Fall, the old Section W3A was re-partitioned, and the new W3S was formed. Unfortunately, we lost our two closest neighbors, Talako of Marin, and Ut-in-Selica of Mt. Diablo-Silverado, but they have been replaced by two new lodges, Toloma Lodge of Greater Yosemite Council, and Tah-Heetch Lodge of Sequoia Council.

As you may have noticed, we didn't have the Conclave last April as usual, but the Council of Chiefs decided to change the date to Fall, and the new date is September 25-27th.

The 2009 Conclave Registration site has not yet opened, but will in the next few weeks. You will receive an email when it does, and we hope to see you at the first W3S Fall Conclave.

Did you know....

Unit elections were held in April and May, and 28 OA Candidates were elected by the 5 Troops in Piedmont? We are looking forward to a great Ordeal in the fall.

Congratulations to lodge members Daniel W, Michael C, and Patrick N. on your Eagle.
