Hungteetsepoppi Lodge
2011 Event Calendar Lodge Business Meeting Cub Scout Webeloree Section W3S Conclave Fall Ordeal Weekend Fall Lodge Banquet |
On Sunday, June 5th, our lodge held its annual BBQ, where brothers of Hungteetsepoppi gathered to have fun and enjoy delicious food. We all bonded and learned more about the logistics of the OA while enjoying juicy burgers, hot dogs, and many other mouth watering edibles. Luckily, we were blessed with good weather, which stormed during every other moment of the weekend. At the BBQ, the youth held elections, where Blaise C,, Forrest Y., Ryan P., and Kyler S. were voted into the positions of Lodge Chief, Vice Chief of Communications and Finances, Vice Chief of Activities, and Vice Chief of Membership and Ceremonies, respectively. Each won with a landslide vote, which foreshadows another great year of brotherhood and service. Cub Webeloree Overnight September 10-11th in Tilden Park The Webloree, on September 10-11th at Gillespie Group Camp in Tilden Park, is an overnight activity for Webelos Scouts that quickens their progress through the requirements for the Arrow of Light award. It also gives the Webelos a chance to see what the transition from Cub Scouts to Boy Scouts will be like since it will be run similarly to the Camporee. There will be four separate stations, where the Webelos will be working on the requirements for Citizenship, Outdoorsman, Geology, and Readyman. Along with the rotations, there will be team building activities and at the Campfire that night the Webelos will be asked to preform a skit. The lodge needs arrowmen to help with this event, so plan to attend. More information will be available soon. - Ryan CEREMONIES RECRUITMENT
Since I am the new Master of Ceremonies for this year I will need some volunteers for the ceremonies we have planned. One of our ceremonies will be the Ordeal. That ceremony requires four lodge members to present the ceremonies in Native American regalia.
I have seen some ceremonies before and they are impressive. For those of you who like to act or have taken acting classes before this will be fun for you. There are a decent number of lines for the ceremonies, but memorizing them is doable., When the time comes everyone who is a member (scouts only) will receive a phone call asking if you are going to commit to the duty of the ceremonies. If you are interested in participating in any of the Ordeal or Brotherhood ceremonies please contact me by email. Yours in Brotherhood - Kyler New Lodge Pocket Flap! On July 1st, 1951, Hungteetsepoppi Lodge held it's first Ordeal induction ceremony at Camp Wallace Alexander (Piedmont Councils original Scout Camp). In honor of this event, Lodge Chief Forrest has created a great new patch design for the lodges 60th Anniversary. It shows a flock of Tanagers in amazing detail. Ghosted in the black background are the "WWW", "466", the fleur-de-lis, and the term "60 Years". The new patches will be available at all lodge activities starting on September 11th. New Lodge Vigil Members On June 4th, Hungteetsepoppi Lodge inducted 2 new Vigil members at Rancho Los Mochos, with our friends and colleagues of Achewon Nimat. While Friday night started out dry, as the night progressed, the rain started, and came down hard. By morning, the camp was soaked, but Forrest Y. and Mike C. were dry and looking good. The morning was concluded with a traditional Vigil breakfast, and a rainy drive home. Congratulations Forrest and Mike, and virtual lodge member Indy! |
Ordeal and Mark your calendar for the Lodge Fall Ordeal and PoppiFest. We will be doing the traditional Ordeal and Brotherhood, but will also be having the traditional PoppiFest Carnival on Saturday night. Plan to join us on October 14-16th! Conclave 2011 September 23-25, 2011 The Presidio of Monterey
Three things that every Conclave has are lots of spirit, fellowship, and fun. All arrowmen should go to the W3S Conclave! We welcome arrowmen of all ages from every lodge. There really is something for everyone. If you are a new arrowman, don't be intimidated. Once you come to one, you will be hooked! Conclave 2012 |
