Fall Ordeal and PoppiFest October 4-6th 2013, Camp Augusta Last October, the Lodge made their way up to the beautiful Camp Augusta for the annual inauguration ceremony to be held. The scouts that were nominated to join the Order of the Arrow had to work their hardest to help build camping platforms, strip paint from bathrooms, and other tasks, all while eating very small portions of food. Although very tough for the newcomers, doing so proved that they were the right set of men to join this exclusive group. Luckily, the weather was fantastic over the two days, making it more enjoyable for everyone participating. After the second, day, the new participants had it easy, eating a large and well-made dinner, and moving on to fun prizes. Although the days were not the easiest for everyone, we all had a great time and cannot wait to do it again next year. Fourteen new Ordeal members were inducted, and three new Brotherhood members. Webeloree Overnight 2013 September 7-8th, 2013 On Sunday, September 8th, the lodge once again desended on Tilden Park to cook breakfast for the Webelos and parents at the Webeloree. The lodge adults served up the traditional French Toast to the group. Lodge Fall Banquet November 3rd, 2013, at Gibson Center On November 3rd, 2013, the Hungteetsepopi lodge held its annual fall banquet at Gibson Hall, Corpus Christi. A great turn out along with great food and fun talks all added up to a great night. And who could forget the pumpkin pie? Newly inducted members to the O.A. Brotherhood came and met many new faces and learned more about their future lodge. Mid-way through the night, an exciting presentation was given on our new Bay Bridge by Rob Kobal, of Caltrans. Lovely to watch and very interesting to hear about, we were all astonished at what a big task it was. A fun and full night, everyone went back home with new friends and full stomachs. -Sam W. Fall Service Projects 2013 Tree Lot Set-Up and Tear-Down This year, the lodge made a major push to support the set-up and tear-down of the Council Christmas Tree lot. 23 lodge members showed up for each event, and we provided 70.5 and 38.25 hours respectively. This year, former lodge member Wayne Marzolf lead a crew and designed and built new work benches for the lot that could be assembled and torn down quickly. The new benches ar much sturdier than the old bench-work, and should last for many years. Thanks Wayne!
During Tear-Down, Mr. Steward loaded the last tree out of the lot into a two seater BMW. Thanks John for being a great Tree Lot Chairman! |
