The Piedmont Council is pleased to once again offer scoutmaster (SM) and assistant scoutmaster (ASM) training for scouters who want to take an active role in their son's scouting career.
The SM and ASM training will begin with the presentation on the mission, organization and principles behind the scouting program, on Sunday, October 2, from 9:00 a.m.-5:00 p.m. at the Piedmont Council Office, 10 Highland Way, Piedmont.
The real fun of the program will continue with the Introduction to Outdoor Leader Skills (IOLS), where you will be introduced to the basic scout skills that boys learn in the scouting program. This outdoor and overnight program begins on Saturday, Oct. 22 at 8:00 a.m. at Hawk Ridge of Chabot Regional Park, and concludes on Sunday, Oct. 23 at 12:00 noon. This program is one of the true highlights of an adult leader's career; our presenters are eager to share their knowledge and expertise with you. In preparation for the outdoor adventure, there will be a "patrol meeting" to plan and coordinate a variety of arrangements on Tuesday, Oct. 11 at 7:00 p.m. at the Piedmont Council Office.
The attached registration form provides more details on the program. The cost of the program is $30 which covers the cost of materials at the indoor training on Oct. 2, and the cost of the campsite and the lunch presentation at the outdoor session.
Please pass this announcement along to those in your units who are interested in this training opportunity.
